ROBERT~2.JPG

Robert Montgomery takes you back to pre-WWII style country music with his renditions of knockdown banjo and singing from the likes of Uncle Dave Macon and Louis Marshall "Grandpa" Jones, but also plays the hard-driving, traditional bluegrass style. Robert also performs and sings country rags on guitar favoring Sam and Kirk McGee. An Alabama native and graduate of Auburn University, Robert has placed or won in literally dozens of regional and national contests, including the 2004 Old-Time Banjo National championship at Uncle Dave Macon Days in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, one of the premium music contests in the South. Montgomery has also won awards for old-time singing, Appalachian folk singing, mandolin, and guitar. In July 2002 he played on the Opry Star Spotlight, a live radio show on WSM 650 AM Radio in Nashville. He plays with a talented group of musicians, playing bluegrass and old-time music. Montgomery is known for his wit and stage-presence as well as his musical talent. You simply must see Robert toss and spin his banjo without missing a note. Uncle Dave would be proud.
